Indecision
Read Acts 21:17 through 26:32
Felix had been the Roman governor for six years when Paul was sent to Rome to stand trial. Tertullus made a strong case against Paul, yet Paul was able to refute his arguments point by point.
Felix apparently wasn’t as sure of himself as Paul and chose not to make a decision based on the evidence presented: “When Lysias the commander comes . . . I will decide your case” (Acts 24:22). However, his curiosity was aroused. He would send for Paul from time to time, when it was convenient, to learn more about Jesus, yet he failed to make a decision either about Paul’s case or Jesus.
Do you know people who indecisively shirk responsibility like Felix? Presented with clear facts, whether secular or sacred, they won’t make decisions. Their indecision and excuses are frustrating. We may not be able to make their decisions for them, but we can faithfully uphold the truth.
How about you? Are you indecisive like Felix, leaving decisions to others, or are you like Paul, who firmly stood for truth?
Thought for Today: God is honored when we stand for truth and make timely, responsible decisions.
